TLSS Current Projects

Members somehow not only find time to work at their own personal interests, but willingly assist with all the ‘everyday’ maintenance at the Club.

For example, the four club locomotives must be maintained in excellent running order, the track frequently has to be levelled and ballasted; there are over 6 hectares of grounds which need mowing, watering, planting and mulching; operating teams are required for public running and hire days; buildings require painting and repair, as well as all the necessary administrative work.

The work involved enables members to enjoy their hobby to the full, but requires sustained effort and commitment, and our Club members are justified in being extremely proud of the results they have achieved to date.

A few of our current and planned ‘special’ projects are:

Building 2 new Diesel Locomotives

Concreting a pathway from our bridge to our BBQ area

Concreting the remaining vehicle access crossovers around the track

The laying extra track to allow trains to by pass the station loop of the circuit to avoid congestion has now been started as well as a Cross Over the enable us to have reverse running

The building a 180 metre circuit of elevated track suitable for non-passenger hauling garden gauge models as well as the smaller 3-1/2 and 5" loco's commenced and waiting for the weather to improve so as final leveling and compacting may be accomplished and frames installed and rails laid.

Building the wind breaks around our B B Q shelters now finished and welcomed by all on windy days

A Unloader purchased and installed for unloading the 5" and 3/2" locos as well as a Turntable currently being installed to enable locos and rolling stock to be moved more freely on the smaller track

And still the dream - to build a tunnel!
